Hoardes of Visitors Climb to the Top of the Bell Tower

PISA- The Piazza dei Miracoli, point of attraction of the tourists from every part of the world. The Leaning Tower records crowds every day while visitors in the Piazza in the first six months of this year mark have increased one per cent compared to last year. In decrease, instead, scholastic trips that numbered 114,000 this year compare to 169,000 last year.

Meanwhile to climb the 294 stairs of the famous bell tower, as of the first July, it is possible tpo acquire the ticket on-line at the website www.duomo.pisa.it.

In the first ten days 372 tickets have been sold thanks you to the computer. This possibility, any day now, is also promised on the site of the Office of Cultural Good.

Final approval for the initiative "Music under the Tower". In the four scheduled dates on the program, more than 500 spectators have been present at the concerts in the cloister of the Work of the Cathedral. Beyond the public success, the musical evenings have received an excellent review by the critics. Applauded during the first evening, the violinist Mark Fornaciari and the Russian pianist Re have performed music of G. Tarini, Ciaikowski, Brahms and Ravel. After the performance by the Ensemble Ecclesia (tenors Paul Fanciullacci, Luciano Bonci, the countertenor Alexander Carmignani, and the bass Marcello Vargetto) who received long applause, came soloists of the "Florence Simphonietta". The four evenings have ended with the concert held by the soprano Monica Benvenuti and Giuseppe Bruno. The Work of the Primaziale has received many requests to continue the initiative next year.
