The wife of President Bush is expected in the afternoon

The President and his wife
PISA. At about 2:30 PM, the wife of the president of the United States, Laura W. Bush, arrives in Pisa. She lands at the military airport in a US airplane. Escorted by police and carbinieri, she will go to Piazza dei Miracoli to admire the Tower. The first lady had expressed a desire to see the bell tower and, certainly, she could not have made a better choice. The stop in Piazza dei Miracoli will be rather brief, not more than a half hour. Then, Laura W. Bush will go to Florence where she will stay two days then leave again on the 22nd for Pisa.

Meanwhile, the first protagonists of the G8 are past in Pisa. Yesterday morning has been the time of the Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien. He has also wanted to visit the wonder of Piazza dei Miracoli and has been spellbound by the Tower, the Basilica and the baptistery. The Canadian Prime Minister in the afternoon was expected at Villa Delia in Cevoli of Lari where there is a center endowed with a highly regarded school of Tuscan cooking particularly favored by Canadian tourists. But at the end the visit, much delay has occurred due to journalists and photographers, a vain delay.

Finally at Pisa, Beatrice, Queen of Holland, has landed and she has been received in her villa at Tavarnelle. In short, it would seem that Pisa is not able to entertain a big musical event like the Bocelli concert. Indeed, we hope not and that a solution can be created, perhaps using simple good sense.
