PISA. Today, on the stage of Teatro Verdi, beginning at the hour of 6:15, there will be a ceremony for the international Prize "The Last Nine Hundred Years, Pisa 2000 in the world", promoted by the international group of letters and by the Commune of Pisa, department of culture.

This year the prize winners will be: Professor Michele Jamiolkowski, representing the Committee for the Safeguard of the Tower, for the excellent result achieved in the consolidation of our beloved monument; Professor Riccardo Varaldo, manager of the Sant'Anna School, in the section of economic sciences, one of the foremost national experts on the economic entrepreneurial world; Professor Ottavio Banti, teacher of medieval antiquity in our athenaeum; archeologist Daniela Stiaffini, expert in the studies of glass in archaeology, for the archaeology section; the writer Vittorio Vettori, president of prestigious cultural society, for the poetry section; the manager of the Regal Theater from Turin, teacher Claudio Desderi, currently artistic manager of the Theater of Pisa, for lyric music; and finally Professor Jacques Thiers, of the University of Corsica, for studies of the relationships between the Corsican intellectuals and the Pisan athenaeum of the years 800, for the section on comparative literatures.
