by Candida Virgone PISA. It is still not the last word, but if, "sic stantibus rebus", it will be very difficult to change the mind of the minister. The application for a dispensation for the exceptional event and an appeal to Marcello Pera, president of the Senate from Tuscany, and to Casini, as president of the Chamber, are the last attempts to try to bring the Bocelli concert back to the Piazza dei Miracoli, on occasion of the reopening of the famous leaning tower that Unesco has decreed a patrimony of humanity. This the substance of the intervention of the president of the Work of the Primaziale, Pierfrancesco Pacini, after the "no" to the scheduling of the musical event of June 17, ruled on the basis of the Ronchey decree concerning the safety of the monuments. But since Venice has been granted dispensations for the splendid Piazza San Marco, Pisa has asked for a decision in this same sense in consideration of the uniqueness of the event, unique for the next few centuries: an envoy of safety, after 11 years of work, redelivers the monument to the city and to the world. Along with Pacini, yesterday, at the Primaziale, professor Peter Floriani, ex mayor of Pisa, who knows well all the problems related to the Ronchey decree. Pacini has specified that the Work has done all possible to implement the concert and has given thanks to those along with him who have endeavored in this sense, like the mayor, the office of Public Works, the Foundation Harp, with professor Franco Mosca, that is the corporate body to which the proceeds of the event will go. It appears that the concert will now be held at the racecourse of San Rossore. It is being reconstructed how it was possible to come to this impasse, for a few days of celebration, the unexpected "no", for which there was no signal from anyone at the meetings held these past few months. In fact, after the request of Ciampi to hold a celebration of the Republic under the Tower, June 2, presented by Milly Carlucci, the superintendent of Pisa asked for permission with the expectation the it would be generally accceptable for the architecture. It was at this point that the unexpected answer arrived: the demonstration could not be held. The superintendent then asked about the Bocelli concert, because he must furnish authorization to the Harp that is the promoting corporate body, and the answer was not delayed. Unfortunately also negative. A true dilemma, because it is suspected, that if there had not been the application of Ciampi, perhaps the decision would have come locally, and the Ronchey decree could have been interpreted, as underlines professor Floriani, "in a manner less restrictive and tied to good sense, that should take into consideration an event unique to the world". "A true lack of attention", concludes Floriani, "to the request". "A choice", adds Pacini, "that offends all in this city".
